To clarify, the x-axis signifies how the character's stress, and the y-axis shows how the character's traits (studies, athletics, etc.) will be affected by the stress. If you're very clever, you can find the function that fitsthis curve and use it to find the optimal way to maximize traits when the game comes out! It's sort of like a cheat sheet! Yay!

Hot for Teacher

I'm having a hard time updating this blog. Although I'm working pretty steadily on the game, I'm 1) too lazy to update it every day, and 2) I'm not sure what I should update with. I have plenty of poses and things that I could show you, but should I show everything I've done? No, that's probably not a good idea. It ruins the surprise. Nonetheless, here's your teacher, Ms. Keina Ito. I have a tendency of naming characters after people I've known in the past, and this one was named after one of my profs. Oh and her hand reminds me of Dr. Zoidberg. I'll fix that later. So much to do!

I recommend that anyone that plays games should play Charles Barkley: Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden. I know I'm late to the game, but really, it's a life-changing experience.

I changed the template to blue because my eyes were starting to hurt.

I am a terrible person, forgetting to update this blog

What have I done lately? I've crafted two characters into the mix, and I'm finally formulated some kind of tangible story? Kind of?

I also wrote some music for the game. MIDI sounds like crap, but the piano roll in the software makes composing super easy. Not that I'm a good songwriter, mind you. But it seems like it's the easiest way to make music right now.

I'm finally getting the hang of Ren'Py language. It's surprisingly easy once you learn the built-in functions. Bear in mind I'm still terrible at programming. I haven't seriously programmed since I was a first year in college, and even then it was in C++ and MATLAB. I'm a Python novice. Tee hee.

Today's Update

Today I implemented the Dating Sim Engine + drew a CG for the game. Still learning the Ren'Py library of functions, which is probably why it took me two hours to change the font on a text button before realizing that there must be a simpler way. Sigh.

I went on a drawing spree tonight. Here's Shinobu. My, ahem, "assistant" already cleaned it up and it's all set for the game, but I'm too lazy to convert that to a useful image type.

I'm also working on making some j-poppy music in MIDI of all things. I've never really made j-pop style music before (or composed anything outside of stupid strumming on guitars), but it's fun.

Did I just hear MIA in a movie commercial? Oh yes I did.

The End... or the Beginning????

So first, a summary of the project. I made a similar project a few years ago, but now I'm starting all over again. This time, it's a more personal project, where I'm testing my artistic (har har), musical (hardy har), and programming (ho ho ho) skills to create one passable project. Oh, and writing skills too, which are also severely lacking (tee hee).

I'll be logging any progress I make in a day on this website. So uh, stay tuned?
